How to crochet cute&easy airpod case/keychains | beginners-friendly tutorials & no magic ring

I’m excited to share a cute crochet pattern for the airpods case with you. With its unique and cute design, this case not only protects your airpods but also serves as a fashion accessory that reflects your personal style. In this blog post, I’ll guide you step by step to create this airpods case, from selecting materials to the detailed crochet instructions.

1. Materials & tools

1.1 Pattern note 

  • Level: Beginners
  • Written in UK terms
  • My pattern is designed for AirPods Pro, but you can adjust the size for other AirPods models

1.2 Finished size

  • Width 4.2 cm (1.65 inches)
  • Height 10 cm (3.94 inches) (including curved edge)

1.3 Term & abbreviations

  • Slst: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet
  • Dc: double crochet

2. Pattern use ideas

Creating your own AirPods case not only offers protection for your tech but also gives you a chance to express your creativity and personal style. With this cute crochet pattern, you can craft a unique accessory that stands out while being functional. Whether you stick to the original design or make adjustments to suit other purposes like a wallet or makeup bag, the possibilities are endless.

3. Pattern

Part 1: body

Make a slip knot and chain 19.

Round 1: skip first chain, 1 sc in every stitch, 3 sc in the last chain, 1 sc in the bottom of every chain, 2 sc in the last chain.

Round 3 – n: 1 sc in every stitch all the way around, repeat this until you have the size you want.

Round n: stop at one corner of your case to start making the flap.

Part 2: the flap

A chain, turn your work, insert 1 sc into every stitch until the other corner.

A chain, turn your work, insert 1 sc into every stitch until the last chain of the corner.

Repeat until you have the size you want for the flap.

Part 3: curved edge

Skip 1 sc at the beginning and end of the last row.

Repeat this until you have the size of the flap you want.

Cut and use a needle to hide yarn.

Make a slip knot and chain 9.

Skip 1: 1sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 2 dc into the same stitch, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc.

Chain 3, skip last chain, 1s c same stitch, 1hdc, 1dc, 2dc same stitch, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc.

Chain 2, 7 sl st into the center space , 1 sl st into the last chain.

Chain 10 (the distance between 2 leaves).

Do the same with the 1st leaf again.  

Chain 9, skip 1: 1sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 2dc in the same stitch, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc.

Chain 3, skip last chain, 1sc same stitch, 1hdc, 1dc, 2dc same stitch, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc.

Chain 2, 7 sl st in the center space, 1 sl st in last chain.

Repeat until you have the size you want (I made 12 leaves).

You can stack them equally or not, place a marker in the middle holding the branches in place and then sew them into the soil.

Part 4: Small leaf

Skip 1: 1sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc.

Chain 3, skip last chain, 1sc same stitch, 1hdc, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc.

Chain 2, 5 sl st in the center space, 1 sl st in last chain.

Repeat until you have the size you want.

Part 5: Flowers

Make a slip knot and chain 3, 4 tr into the ring.

Chain 3, 1 sl st into the ring.

Repeat 4 more times.

Pull the tail, chain 1 and cut yarn.

Use yarn to sew or glue it on.

Part 4: border

At first chain of the edges of the flap: 1 sc.

Second chain: 1 hdc.

Third chain: 3 dc.

Fourth: 1 sc.

Repeat until the other corner and insert 1 sc into every chain until the first chain of the edges of the flap.

Cut and use a needle to hide yarn.

Part 5: bow

Chain the width you want for the bow or use ribbon.

Bow sewing or glue it on.

Make a chain of 19 stitches and sew it into a case, or use a keychain clip to attach it to the center of the AirPods case lid.

I recommend getting titch buttons so that you can securely open and close your case.
